Pastor's Thoughts for February 2010

Pastor Sylvia

Each month our pastor writes to us from our Turlock church to share her thoughts on a topic of religious significance. Her goal is to link the word of God as it is presented in the Bible and apply it to the context of our daily lives. Although each of these messages is dated they are in fact timeless in their spiritual significance.

February 2010

For the month of February 2010 and the pastor's thoughts are about Getting Started. She lets us know that she is so excited about getting started as our new pastor. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful spring weather that God has given all of us.

Pastor's Thoughts

Pastor

Each month during his tenure at Light Of Christ Lutheran Church the former pastor of our Turlock church shares his thoughts on a topic of religious significance. His goal is to link the word of God as it is presented in the Bible and apply it to the context of our daily lives. Although each of these messages is dated they are in fact timeless in their spiritual significance.

December 2009

For the month of December 2009 and the pastor's thoughts are about Symbols of Christmas. He reminds us that As we prepare in Advent for Christmas, one of the more popular ways of preparing is getting out all those things that are symbols of Christmas. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful Christmas that God has given all of us.

November 2009

For the month of November 2009 and the pastor's thoughts are about A Time To Give Thanks. He reminds us that Thanksgiving Day is not an American day in origin either. The harvest was celebrated in Europe, and services of gratitude are ancient in world religions as well. The purpose of our National Thanksgiving Day is to give thanks to Almighty God for His many blessings and mercies to us as a nation, and as a people. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful Thanksgiving that God has given all of us.

October 2009

For the month of October 2009 and the pastor's thoughts are about What was Luther doing?. The Lutheran Church goes back to Jesus Christ Himself. The Lutheran Church rests, not on Luther, but on the Lord Jesus. Luther merely cleansed the church of its impurity of his day. Luther taught nothing new. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful fall that God has given all of us.

September 2009

For the month of September 2009 the pastor's thoughts are about Special Prayer. He reminds us that Billy Graham never hesitated to speak the truth of Godís Word to anyone who would listen. It is his special prayer for our nation that he believes we should share. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful school year that God has given all of us.

July 2009

For the month of July the pastor's thoughts are about God's plan. He reminds us that God has a plan for us, our nation, and in fact every nation, but if there is a nation where God is not first, where God's love is not given priority, then in this nation there can be no peace. It is right that we should pray for our government, other governments, and all those in authority - that the nation can continue under God - and that we might recognize that God will continue to smile upon our undertakings if we are faithful to God. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful summer that God has given all of us.

June 2009

For the month of June the pastor's thoughts are about Our Standing Orders As Christians. He reminds us that the Pentecost season is upon us, and that for the next six months the emphasis is on the Holy Spirit living and dwelling in each of us. He asks us to keep telling the story of gods love because for someone somewhere it is still new. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful summer that God has given all of us.

May 2009

For the month of May the pastor's thoughts are about Stewardship. He reminds us that we need to be effective stewards of what God has given us. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family will enjoy this wonderful spring that God has given all of us.

April 2009

For the month of April the pastor's thoughts were about Easters True Vision . True vision of life is the ability to see what is invisible: God. The God of history is revealed in Jesus. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family has a very Happy Easter.

March 2009

For the month of March the pastor's thoughts were about The Meaning of Lent. Lent is meant to be a time we set aside to grow closer with God. It is also an appropriate time to study the Scriptures. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family spends some time this month grwing closer to God through the studying of scriptures.

February 2009

For the month of February the pastor's thoughts were about The Continuing Surprise. He reminds us that God often calls upon flawed and uncooperative people to carry out his purposes. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family has a very Happy Valentines Day.

January 2009

For the month of January the pastor's thoughts were about epiphany and baptism. He reminds us that baptism is our identification with the family of God’s people. And so, in baptism we are to be surrounded by the family, and no longer alone. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family has a very Happy New Year.

December 2008

For December 2008 the pastor's thoughts offers us a Christmas Message. He reminded us that God and his many blessings play an important role in our lives and this nations history. We at Light of Christ Lutheran Church hope your family had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

November 2008

For the month of November 2008 the pastor's thoughts reflected on this nations first Thanksgiving Proclamation. He reminded us that God and his many blessings play an important role in our lives and this nations history.
